Inside the Whitney Museum's annual Art Party

The Whitney Museum of American Art turned into a lively nightclub on January 28 for its annual Art Party. The Studio 54-themed fundraiser supported the museum’s Independent Study Program. Young patrons, emerging artists, and people from art, fashion, business, philanthropy, and entertainment came to the museum to celebrate art.

They danced to DJ sets by The Muses and Jenny Albright in the Kenneth C. Griffin Hall. They also enjoyed hors d’oeuvres by Olivier Cheng Catering and looked at the current exhibitions, especially the one about choreographer Alvin Ailey.

The dance floor was full of champagne, sequins, and fun all night. Guests like painter and photographer Quil Lemons and fashion designer Cynthia Rowley were encouraged to explore the whole museum.

Maestro Dobel Tequila even set up bars in the elevators to keep the party going. The event raised a lot of money for the museum’s Independent Study Program. This program has helped shape the careers of many important people in the art world since it started in 1968.

Some of these people include Guggenheim Museum chief curator Naomi Beckwith and artists Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Andrea Fraser. Co-chairs Steven Beltrani, Micaela Erlanger, Alexander Hankin, Christine Sun Kim, and Tabboo! supported the evening. Other notable guests included Olivia Palermo, JiaJia Fei, Griffin Maxwell Brooks, Andrew Tess, Na Kim, Mischa Barton, Pari Ehsan, Job Piston, Jessel Taank, and more.

The Whitney Art Party is always a highlight of the social calendar. It brings together a lively mix of people and raises important funds to support one of the museum’s most valuable programs.
