Christopher Priest is returning to Black Panther after 22 years. He will join forces with Joe Quesada for a new six-issue limited series. The story will explore a possible future of the Marvel Universe.
It all starts with the death of T’Challa, the Black Panther. Priest previously worked on Black Panther from 1998 to 2003. His run helped revolutionize and revitalize the character.
Quesada, along with Jimmy Palmiotti, launched the original Marvel Knights line. It presented new titles with bold creative directions. The line redefined characters with a modern edge.
Priest pitched the idea for this story to Quesada in 2017. Quesada described the concept as “insane, beautiful, and edgy.” He insisted on drawing the project himself. Quesada expressed excitement for the collaboration.
Marvel Knights new series collaboration
He sees it as a chance to celebrate the original Marvel Knights books. At the same time, it will explore new territories with familiar characters.
Marvel Knights was an imprint that offered fresh takes on flagging characters. Notable titles included Quesada’s Daredevil, written by Kevin Smith. Priest’s Black Panther was also a standout.
It brought major refinements to the lore of T’Challa and Wakanda. The new series will draw inspiration directly from the original Marvel Knights line. The goal is to ensure a nostalgic yet fresh experience for fans.
The first issue is set to release on June 4. Interior pages from the upcoming series have been revealed. They showcase the artwork of Joe Quesada and colorist Richard Isanove.
Fans can expect more updates and insights into this highly anticipated series in the coming months.
