Netflix has announced a new adaptation of the beloved “Little House on the Prairie” series. The reboot will be based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s bestselling books and the popular 1970s television show. Rebecca Sonnenshine will serve as the showrunner and executive producer for the upcoming series.

Trip Friendly, son of Ed Friendly who worked on the original series, will also be a producer on the reboot. Sonnenshine expressed her excitement about the project, saying, “I fell deeply in love with these books when I was five years old. They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new global audience with Netflix.”

The new adaptation is described as “part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West.” It aims to offer a fresh perspective on the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.
