Paul Rudd stars in 'Death of a Unicorn' trailer

Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega star in the upcoming A24 comedy “Death of a Unicorn.” The film follows a father and daughter who accidentally hit a unicorn with their car while on their way to a crisis management summit. They bring the creature to the retreat of a wealthy pharmaceutical CEO, played by Richard E. Grant, with the intention to study and harvest it.

However, their actions lead to deadly consequences. The plot takes a turn when they realize the unicorn they hit was only a baby, and its vengeful parents return seeking retribution. As the characters delve deeper into their research, they uncover the horrifying repercussions of their actions.

Will Poulter also stars in the film as the sinister CEO. “Death of a Unicorn” marks the feature directorial debut of Alex Scharfman, who also wrote the screenplay.

Scharfman has previously produced indie films such as “Women Who Kill,” “Blow the Man Down,” and “Resurrection.”

The project is produced by Lucas Joaquin, Tyler Campellone, Drew Houpt, Lars Knudsen, Tim Headington, and Theresa Steele Page. Despite excitement over the film, some critics express mild concern that the second trailer does not offer much new footage, raising questions about the film’s overall quality. “Death of a Unicorn” will be released in select US theaters starting March 28th, 2025.

The film will also premiere at SXSW next month, promising an enthusiastic reception. Fans are eager to see how this supernatural comedy unfolds on the big screen.
