Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have announced the return of their band Nevermore. The band has been on a 13-year hiatus, but Loomis and Williams are ready to bring it back. Loomis recently left Arch Enemy after 10 years to focus on his own music again.
He said, “I’m reforming my old band, Nevermore, which was a very big part of my life for a long time. We’re on the search right now for a new vocalist and bass player. We’re gonna come back, and we’re gonna revamp the band.
It’s gonna be bigger and better than it ever was.”
The search for a new vocalist and bassist has been extensive. Loomis and Williams want to make sure they find the right people to honor the legacy of the late Warrel Dane while also bringing something new to the table. Loomis said, “We’re taking our time with it.
nevermore seeks new frontmen
We want to make sure we’re doing it right and get somebody to honor Warrel Dane’s name, but still somebody that can sing like him, yet give a little bit of their own self.”
The band has received over 650 submissions from around the world for the open positions. They are looking for individuals who bring positive energy, professionalism, strong work ethics, and readiness for extensive touring.
Former Nevermore bassist Jim Sheppard will not be involved in the reunion. Loomis and Williams addressed this decision in an open letter, stating that there hasn’t been communication with Sheppard in years and that they felt a fresh start was necessary. Williams also shared his personal struggles, including the loss of his wife to ovarian cancer in 2020.
He said, “I am personally focusing on positivity and positive people. If Jeff and I can find the right vocalist and bassist who respect the legacy and want to move forward with us, this new chapter can be something truly special for all who choose to come along with us.”
Fans have had mixed reactions to the news of Nevermore’s return. Some are excited to see the band come back, while others are skeptical about the absence of Sheppard and Dane.
Loomis and Williams remain committed to honoring Nevermore’s legacy while also moving forward in a new direction. They are optimistic about the future of the band and look forward to bringing their music to fans once again.
