New featurette released for Disney's Snow White

Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Snow White” is set to hit theaters on March 21, 2025. The movie revisits the studio’s first full-length animated film from 1937. Marc Webb, known for “500 Days of Summer,” directs the film.

Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson co-wrote the script. The movie aims to captivate mother-and-daughter Disney fans. With a mid-March release date, “Snow White” faces little family-oriented competition.

This strategy previously benefited live-action Disney remakes like “Beauty and the Beast.”

The domestic opening weekend is projected to bring in $65M to $85M. This reflects considerable interest despite varying audience habits since Disney’s animation remakes peaked in the 2010s. Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White.

Despite being in high-profile projects like “West Side Story” and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” she has yet to break the $50M opening weekend mark.

Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen in the movie.

The cast also includes Andrew Burnap, Andrew Barth Feldman, Tituss Burgess, Martin Klebba, Jason Kravits, George Salazar, Jeremy Swift, and Andrew Grotelueschen. Disney released a new teaser for the film yesterday. The clip takes viewers on a nostalgic journey, honoring the original 1937 animated film.

It includes scenes from the classic animation woven with new footage. The teaser showcases glimpses of Gal Gadot as the evil queen with the iconic magic mirror. Snow White is seen with her dwarfs before her fateful encounter with the old lady.

Disney has successfully adapted several of its animated classics into live-action films before. Examples include “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.”

The industry will closely watch the performance of “Snow White” when it releases. This will help gauge the evolving preferences of audiences towards Disney’s classic story reimaginings.
