Weigel Broadcasting will launch a new network this fall called WEST, which stands for Western Entertainment Series Television. The channel will air classic Western TV series 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. WEST will have a large library of over 30 beloved Western shows.

Some of the series that will air on WEST include “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza,” “Rawhide,” “Wanted: Dead or Alive,” “Have Gun, Will Travel,” “The High Chaparral,” “Wagon Train,” “The Big Valley,” “The Virginian,” and “The Wild Wild West.”

Neal Sabin, Vice Chairman of Weigel Broadcasting Co., said, “WEST will be dedicated 24/7 to showcasing the most beloved and iconic classic TV Western series, with a massive library of titles that will make this the premier Western network on television. Featuring compelling storylines and narratives with universal adult appeal, the programs on WEST promise to transport viewers on an entertainment journey filled with excitement and adventure.”

Jeff Nash, SVP Network Sales for Weigel, stated, “We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the WEST network, a move that has been driven by years of client feedback and growing demand. This expansion represents another major milestone for us, and we’re proud to deliver exactly what our partners have been asking for.”

WEST will be available nationwide through Weigel Broadcasting’s TV stations.

The company expects to announce more distribution partners soon.

New classic network WEST debuts

Weigel Broadcasting owns several other national broadcast networks, such as MeTV, MeTV Toons, Start TV, Heroes & Icons, Catchy Comedy, MeTV+, Story Television, Dabl, and Movies!.

WEST will be the 10th channel created by Weigel. The launch of WEST comes at a time when classic Westerns are gaining popularity again. Modern Western shows like “Yellowstone” have been very successful.

Older series such as “Gunsmoke” are also doing well on streaming platforms like Paramount+ and Peacock. WEST will join some other existing channels that focus on Westerns, including INSP and Grit. However, Weigel Broadcasting believes WEST will stand out as the top destination for fans of classic Western TV shows.
