Rafe is back in Salem, but he’s in worse shape than when he was held captive by EJ. The DiMeras spent much of the week trying to stay out of trouble as Days of Our Lives made it clear there’s no easy way out of this mess. The show completely ignored last Friday’s cliffhanger for two whole days, then addressed it by having Kristen and EJ calmly talk about what happened.
It was a weird choice not to return to the cliffhanger on Monday. This week, they focused on the Rafe and Ava storylines, only to switch gears on Friday for baby stuff, which brought the momentum to a halt. The Rafe switch story is still going, but it’s not stagnant.
The memory erasing serum is a convenient and lazy plot device, but using it to switch back an amnesiac Rafe just as everyone catches onto Arnold and Gabi gets DNA proof is clever. Kayla pointed out that the DNA test will only prove that the man Gabi plucked the hair from wasn’t Rafe, not who he actually is. Fingerprints would come in handy, as Arnold’s would be on file.
But it’s unclear if they’ll be that smart. One question remains: What happened to Arnold? He’s the only one who might be able to sort this out.
Rafe has no memory, they likely won’t fingerprint him, and EJ’s not blowing his cover. Is Arnold dead, in the catacombs, or shipped off somewhere? Next week, the stories will fold into each other more as EJ’s son looks to adopt Brady’s son’s child.
Brady likely won’t be happy that the kid will be EJ’s grandchild. It’s unclear how anyone pushing for this adoption thinks it’s a good idea. Chanel and Johnny can put on a show about being a good Christian couple, but Amy will likely see through that.
Rafe switches amid DNA chaos
Even if they do adopt the baby, they’ll have to deal with Amy being in their lives. It will be a mess.
The question is, who will ruin this? Paulina? Brady?
Amy? There’s no way Johnny and Chanel can convince her they’re the perfect Christian couple. Gabi finally stood up to Rafe and outsmarted Arnold, which was fantastic.
Joy must have been hit hard by the poisoning because she hasn’t been seen in ages. But she’s finally showing up next week!
Kristen played the Rachel card to get out of this, and Brady went right for it. Next week, Marlena starts dealing with new twists.
We’ll likely see familiar faces returning to say goodbye to John. Exciting returns are coming up on Days of Our Lives. Theresa will be back in the spring of 2025, with Gwen popping up in the summer.
Paul and Andrew returned for John and Marlena’s anniversary, and their return trip for John’s farewell story will be rough. Vivian returned in November with her loyal manservant Ivan to scheme with Philip for control of Titan. While Kate stopped that fast, it likely isn’t the last we’ve seen of Viv!
Jude, Eric, Jack, Jennifer, Abigail, Shane, and many other characters are slated to return for exciting developments and dramatic turns.
