Ronnie Dunn, the lead singer of country duo Brooks & Dunn, sparked concern among fans after abruptly walking off stage during a concert in Indianapolis on Thursday. The 71-year-old was performing the band’s hit song “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” during an encore when he signaled he could no longer continue. In a video posted by a concertgoer, Dunn is seen finishing his verse before shaking his head and gesturing to a band member that he was done.
He then faced the audience, pounded his heart, waved, and exited the stage.
Ronnie’s abrupt departure sparks concern
The caption of the video read, “Feel better, Ronnie!!! Thanks for giving us all you could!!”
Another video showed Dunn sitting down on the stage risers during a song, prompting fans to express their concern and support.
One fan posted, “Anyone know what’s going on?! Hoping a quick bug, and he’s back on stage tomorrow!” while another commented, “When they were in Houston he said he was getting over Covid and strep throat. He needs to rest and recover.”
Dunn and his bandmate have been touring the U.S. for their “Neon Moon” tour. Fans rushed to social media to share their well-wishes, with one writing on the band’s official Instagram page, “Praying for you Ronnie! Hope you get better soon.”
Reports indicate that this health concern follows Dunn’s recent battle with the flu and strep throat.
Last month, he shared, “Had to fight through the last two shows (the flu and strep aren’t a singer’s friend…) Crowds have been terrific and thanks to the best band and crew in the business we’ve powered through it.”
While representatives for Dunn and the band have not commented on the incident, fans remain hopeful for a quick recovery and are eager to see Dunn back on stage.
