Snoop Dogg loses followers after Trump event

Snoop Dogg has faced significant backlash and lost a substantial number of social media followers after performing at an event celebrating Donald Trump’s inauguration. The rap icon has lost 571,800 followers on Instagram and nearly 20,000 on X (formerly Twitter). Despite this, he still has over 88 million followers on Instagram and more than 20 million on X.

The 53-year-old rapper has come under heavy criticism since performing at the pro-Trump Crypto Ball and posing for photos with far-right influencers and MAGA supporters. Some have labeled him a hypocrite, particularly since he had previously criticized Black artists who performed at Trump’s first inauguration in 2017. One critic harshly commented on X, “Who would have guessed that Snoop Dogg would end up being one of the ‘Uncle Tom ass n-ggers’ he himself railed against not long ago?

What a sellout.”

However, Snoop has remained defiant in the face of the criticism. In a recent Instagram video, he responded, “Y’all can’t hate enough me for me, I love too much. Get your life right, stop worrying about mine.

I’m cool, I’m together. Still a Black man.

Still a hundred percent Black. I ain’t going nowhere, cuh! I’m right here.”

He further addressed his critics within the Black community: “We gotta learn to pick each other up instead of pulling each other down. That’s what we’re great at as Black people; we’re great at tearing each other down.

You can be up one minute and they try to pull you down the next. But I’m a strong Black man, I’m cut from a different cloth. You can’t tear me down.

Snoop was a vocal critic of Trump when he first took office but has since changed his stance after Trump pardoned Death Row co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris in early 2021. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Snoop said, “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me.

He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
