Taylor Swift was among the big winners at the 2025 BMI Pop Awards held at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The event celebrated the songwriters and publishers behind the 50 most-performed pop songs of the past year. Swift was honored as songwriter of the year for the second year in a row.

She was recognized for writing seven major hits, including “Don’t Blame Me,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” and “Is It Over Now?”

Benson Boone also had a big night, receiving the BMI Champion Award. He dedicated his win to his co-writer Jack LaFrantz, acknowledging him as a key part of his creative process.

Swift repeats as top songwriter

Boone also won two additional awards for his hits “Slow It Down” and “Beautiful Things.”

Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” co-written by Julian Bunetta, Mikky Ekko, and Marco “Infamous” Rodriguez, won the award for song of the year. Universal Music Publishing Group was named publisher of the year for representing 28 celebrated songs, including Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills” and Eminem’s “Houdini.”

Other notable songs highlighted during the ceremony included SZA’s “Saturn,” Tate McRae’s “Greedy,” Tyla’s “Water,” Jack Harlow’s “Lovin’ on Me,” Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor,” Dua Lipa’s “Houdini,” Chappell Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova,” Miley Cyrus’ “Used to Be Young,” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Feather.”

The event saw many artists and industry executives in attendance, including Bonnie McKee, JP Saxe, Lisa Loeb, Sean Momberger, D’Mile, John Ryan, Gregory Hein, Verse Simmonds, Ross Golan, Gregg Alexander, and Danielle Brisebois. The 2025 BMI Pop Awards were co-hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill, VP of Worldwide Creative Barbara Cane, VP of Creative NY Samantha Cox, and VP of Creative LA Tracie Verlinde.
