Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, who starred as Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler on the hit sitcom “Full House,” recently opened up about an uncomfortable question they’ve been asked in interviews. On their podcast “How Rude, Tanneritos!,” the actresses discussed being asked if they ever had a crush on their co-star John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse. “People ask us in media interviews, ‘Did you ever have a crush on John Stamos?'” Barber said.

“Like, that is a gross question. No.”

Sweetin agreed, adding, “They’re like our older brothers, and we do not think of them that way.”

Barber further clarified, “They are just our buddies, and, yeah, this is kind of a weird question.”

The topic came up during a game of “Would You Rather” on the podcast, where they were asked if they’d rather marry Joey Gladstone (played by Dave Coulier) or Jesse Katsopolis (Stamos). Both actresses found the question strange but reluctantly chose Gladstone based on “temperament alone.”

“Full House” aired from 1987 to 1995, following the story of widowed father Danny Tanner raising his three daughters with the help of his brother-in-law Jesse and best friend Joey.

Personal lives rebuke uncomfortable questions

Sweetin was 5 years old when the series began and 13 when it ended, while Barber was 11 at the start and 18 by the finale. The cast members have remained close over the years, even reuniting for the Netflix revival “Fuller House” from 2016 to 2020. They’ve supported each other through significant life events and consider themselves a real family.

“Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family,” Sweetin shared, referring to the passing of their on-screen father, Bob Saget. Their strong bond highlights the inappropriateness of the question about Stamos, reminding fans and media of the deep familial connections they’ve built over the years.
