Brad Pitt has opened up about an embarrassing moment from early in his career that he says “still haunts” him. In a recent interview, the Oscar-winning actor shared the story of how he was nearly fired from one of his first film roles. Before his breakout role in “Thelma & Louise” in 1992, Pitt was a struggling actor trying to make a name for himself in Hollywood.

He landed a non-speaking part as a waiter in the 1987 cop film “No Man’s Land,” written by TV producer Dick Wolf. At the time, Pitt was trying to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), which required a speaking role. “The whole game was, how do you get your SAG card?” Pitt explained.

“Because you can’t get a job if you don’t have your SAG card, but you can’t get your SAG card unless you’ve had a job. It’s this catch-22.”

In his scene, Pitt was supposed to simply pour champagne for the main characters, played by Charlie Sheen and DB Sweeney. “They show me how to do it: you gotta pour, you spin, you wipe,” Pitt said.

However, in an attempt to stand out, Pitt decided to improvise a line. “Like a jackass, they’re doing the scene.

I get to the last actor – and she seemed lower on the totem pole, maybe? Literally, the scene is going on, I pour her champagne and I go, ‘Would you like anything else?’ It was ‘CUT! CUT! CUT!'” Pitt recounted. The Assistant Director immediately scolded Pitt, warning him that if he did it again, he would be fired from the set.

“You do that again, you’re out of here,” Pitt was told. He admitted that he felt “shame for the rest of the night.”

Despite this early setback, Pitt went on to become one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. His extensive filmography includes notable titles such as “True Romance,” “Interview with the Vampire,” “Twelve Monkeys,” and “Meet Joe Black.”

Pitt’s story serves as a reminder that even the most successful actors face struggles and embarrassing moments on their way to the top.

It also highlights the challenges that aspiring actors face in trying to break into the industry and secure their SAG card.
