Actress Esha Gupta has opened up about a heated confrontation she had with director Sajid Khan on the set of the 2014 film “Humshakals.” In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Gupta revealed that Khan verbally abused her during a fight, and she responded in kind before walking off the set. “Sajid Khan and I were not at all on the same page, and we ended up having a proper fight,” Gupta said. “He abused me, and in return, I also abused him.”

Gupta did not provide specific details about what led to the argument but suggested that Khan’s frustrations were a factor.

“Some people don’t think before they speak—they’re frustrated for many reasons,” she said. “I don’t want to talk about that because I’ve moved on from it.”

Following the altercation, Gupta initially decided to quit the film. “I walked out of the set.

I went home. I didn’t stay,” she said. “I had also made up my mind to exit the film.

But it was the producer who apologized first, even before Sajid did.”

Gupta also addressed the film’s poor reception, noting that the cast had concerns after seeing the final product. “When we all watched the film, we knew it was going to be a huge disaster,” she said.

In recent years, Khan has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct as part of the #MeToo movement. However, Gupta clarified that while she experienced verbal abuse from Khan, she was not subjected to any sexual harassment. “I’ve never said anything in relation to MeToo about Sajid,” Gupta said.

“In fact, when those allegations started coming out, someone even added my name to the list of people who accused him. I said, ‘No.’ Look, whoever has made a mistake, call them out for that. Like I’m openly saying now that he abused me.

But Sajid never tried any of those [sexual misconduct] things with me.”

Gupta’s revelations shed light on the sometimes difficult working relationships in the film industry and the importance of maintaining respectful professional environments on set.
