Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia recently shared an intriguing story about Amitabh Bachchan during the filming of “Ek Ajnabee” in Bangkok. Lakhia revealed that one night, Bachchan wanted to explore the city’s nightlife, specifically the Patpong area known for its live shows. Lakhia warned Bachchan that his presence could cause a commotion, but the actor insisted on going.
Accompanied by actors Vikram Chatwal, Perizaad Zorabian, and producer Bunty Walia, they ventured into a club. Lakhia described Bachchan walking through Patpong in a shirt with most buttons undone and a traditional Thai dhoti-like garment. The actor’s presence caused a stir among the Indian patrons at the club.

Witnessing a live show for the first time, Bachchan was amazed. “Imagine, we went with Amit ji for the show, and the Indians there went crazy.
He was walking as if he was in Juhu,” Lakhia said. After the show, Bachchan remarked, “Mind blowing.”
Despite returning to the hotel around 2:30-3:00 AM, Bachchan was back on set by 5:30 AM, ready to work with only a couple of hours of sleep. Lakhia also shared that Bachchan would often organize film screenings for the entire crew, renting a cinema and arranging movies like “Bunty Aur Babli” with filmmakers such as Yash Chopra.
These screenings became daily events, with Bachchan sometimes falling asleep on the recliners during the late-night viewings. This anecdote offers a glimpse into Amitabh Bachchan’s off-screen life, showcasing his tireless energy and passion for new experiences, both on and off the set.
