Brooke Shields has revealed that her ex-husband, Andre Agassi, once made a hurtful comment about her body during their marriage. In her new memoir, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman,” the actress and model shares personal stories about her life and struggles with body image. Shields, 59, writes that she was often told she wasn’t “runway-worthy” because she wasn’t thin enough.

When she shared her insecurities with Agassi, he would say, “I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.” However, when Shields asked him if he would still love her if she gained weight, Agassi responded, “I love you too much to let you get big and fat!”

This comment left Shields reeling. “I definitely did not see that coming and must admit I started to spin a bit,” she confessed in her book. “But we all know how that relationship turned out.”

Shields and Agassi were married from 1997 to 1999 and did not have any children together.

Brooke’s marriage struggles with Agassi

During their divorce, Agassi reportedly told Shields, “Be thankful we didn’t have children, because it would have been a disaster.”

In her memoir, Shields also shares that she is glad she never got pregnant with Agassi’s baby. “I’m glad I never got pregnant with my first husband because it would have been a disaster,” she wrote.

“When we got divorced, he made that very clear.”

Despite the challenges she faced in her marriage to Agassi, Shields has found happiness with her current husband, Chris Henchy. The couple, who married in 2001, have two daughters together: Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18. Shields’ memoir delves into various aspects of her life, including her career, personal struggles, and triumphs.
