Countdown starring Ackles premieres June 25 on Prime

Jensen Ackles, known for his role in “Supernatural,” is set to star in a new crime drama series called “Countdown.” The show will premiere on Prime Video on June 25 with a three-episode debut. New episodes will be released weekly, with the season finale scheduled for September 3. “Countdown” is created by Derek Haas, the mind behind the “One Chicago” franchise.

Ackles plays LAPD detective Mark Meachum, who is recruited into a secret task force after a Department of Homeland Security officer is murdered. The task force, made up of undercover agents from various law enforcement branches, soon uncovers a plot that threatens millions of lives. The series also features Eric Dane from “Grey’s Anatomy” and Jessica Camacho from “Sleepy Hollow.” Other cast members include Violett Beane, Elliot Knight, and Uli Latukefu.

In an interview with Men’s Health, Ackles talked about the show’s mix of action, adventure, and humor. He described the task force as a group of “outcast officers” who see themselves in each other.

Creator Derek Haas praised Ackles’ natural joy and passion for his work, saying it not only fits well with his character but also lifts up the entire cast and crew. “Countdown” will be available to stream in over 240 countries and territories worldwide exclusively on Prime Video. First-look images of the series have already been released, generating excitement for its premiere.

This new project is another highlight in Ackles’ varied career, spanning from his early days on TV to his roles in different genres. Fans can look forward to the thrilling blend of drama, suspense, and heart that “Countdown” promises to deliver when it debuts on June 25.
