Actress Rosamund Pike has opened up about a terrifying mugging incident that occurred while she was walking and talking on the phone with her mother in London. The 44-year-old star, known for her roles in films like “Gone Girl” and “The Wheel of Time,” shared the harrowing experience during a recent interview with Magic Radio. Pike recounted the incident, which took place in 2006, saying, “I was on the phone to my mother, walking along a road, and I was mugged.

The phone was snatched, so all she heard was me scream and a thud, and the phone went dead.”

The mugging wasn’t just a snatch-and-grab. Pike revealed that the assailant also punched her on the side of her cheek before grabbing the phone from her hand. “In the moment, I was angry,” she said, “but also knew that because of the abruptly ended phone call, my mother must have been in a state of panic.”

Pike explained that her mother, Caroline Friend, endured “15 minutes of hell” before Pike was able to call her back.

“I walked to a nearby pub and called [my mom] when I got there and met my friends,” Pike recalled.

“But for her, it was probably a pretty horrible 15 minutes.”

The actress pointed out that a similar incident is a central theme in her new film, which recently debuted in the U.K. The thriller stars Pike and John Rhys as parents who receive a distressing late-night call from their teenage daughter, leading them through a series of disturbing revelations.

Despite the incident occurring over a decade ago, Pike faced another personal challenge recently. In January, she attended the Golden Globes with a lacy veiled headpiece. What many did not know was that the fashionable veil doubled as protection for a facial injury she sustained in a skiing accident over the previous Christmas.

“I had an accident on Dec. 26, 2022, and my face was entirely smashed up,” she revealed. “Though mostly healed by the Golden Globes, I opted not to waste the fashionable veil.”

Rosamund Pike’s resilience is evident both in her personal life and her acting career, as she continues to captivate audiences with her powerful performances.

The actress’s openness about her past experiences sheds light on the challenges and traumas that many individuals face, even those in the public eye.
