The upcoming film “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” is already generating buzz for its intense action sequences. Director Christopher McQuarrie recently revealed that during a small screening of the movie, one audience member had an extreme reaction to a particular scene. “We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence.

I almost had a heart attack,'” McQuarrie shared with Empire Magazine. “And I thought, ‘I guess we did something right.'”

While the specific scene that caused this reaction has not been disclosed, McQuarrie confirmed that the eighth installment in the franchise features “the most difficult thing” they’ve ever done in the Tom Cruise-led series. The trailer for “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” showcases a variety of thrilling moments, including a high-speed car chase and crash, an underwater battle involving a submarine, and Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, hanging on to the outside of a biplane as it flies upside down.

Heart-stopping action sequence revealed

In July 2023, Cruise shared behind-the-scenes footage from the previous film, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” highlighting a high-speed train sequence filmed in Norway. McQuarrie discussed how they wanted to build upon the previous films and create a sense of adventure with the train scene, something they had always wanted to do.

“We wanted to build upon the previous films,” the director said. “And apply all of that knowledge to something practical and real.”

The cast for “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” includes familiar faces such as Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett, who will reprise her role as CIA Director Erika Sloane. Newcomers to the franchise include Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, and Hannah Waddingham.
