The Jesus Lizard has released a new song called “I’m Tired Of Being Your Mother.” It is a slow, creepy song with sinister guitar riffs. The lyrics are made up of terrible things that mothers sometimes say to their children. David Yow, the lead singer, explains the inspiration for the song.
“When a friend of mine was about eight years old, living outside of New Orleans, his mother once said to him, in a slow, dull drawl, ‘I’m tired uh bein’ yo mutha.’ That really struck me. The lyrics are actual quotes of awful things mothers have said to their children. Heartbreaking!”
“I’m Tired Of Being Your Mother” will be on a new three-song EP that The Jesus Lizard plans to release on Record Store Day.
The EP will be available on April 12 through Ipecac Recordings.
New Record Store Day release
This new song comes after The Jesus Lizard returned last year with their first new album in 26 years.
Since then, they have released several singles and seem to be putting out music at a faster rate than ever before. The Jesus Lizard also has a lot of upcoming tour dates planned. They will be playing shows in the US and Europe from May through June.
Some of the cities they will visit include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Berlin, Lausanne, Bologna, Rome, Milan, Lyon, Barcelona, and Porto. Fans are excited to hear more new music from The Jesus Lizard and see them perform live again. The band’s raw, intense sound and David Yow’s wild stage presence have made them legends in the noise rock scene.
With this new burst of activity, The Jesus Lizard is introducing their music to a new generation while giving longtime fans more of what they love.
