John Nolan and Celina Juarez are going undercover on a Los Angeles County bus as part of a public safety initiative in the upcoming episode of “The Rookie.” The episode, titled “Speed,” will air on March 25 at 10 PM ET on ABC. In an exclusive sneak peek, Nolan and Celina are seen preparing for their undercover mission. Celina is dressed as a college student, while Nolan is in a less police-like outfit.

The two engage in friendly banter, showcasing their strong chemistry and camaraderie. However, what should have been a routine assignment quickly turns into a life-or-death situation. As the duo deals with a hostage scenario on the bus, Angela and Nyla investigate the suspects behind the chaos.

Tim and Lucy face personal challenges, with Tim questioning Lucy’s decision-making skills, leading to tension between them. Lisseth Chavez, who plays Celina, shares her experience filming with body cams. “It’s always a challenge doing body cams,” she says.

“Everyone else is a bit more accustomed to it because they’re often on the street and use their body cams frequently. For me, it’s more challenging—not just because of my height but also balancing the dual roles of acting and filming.”

Richard T. Jones, who portrays Sergeant Wade Grey, also provides insights into the intense episode.

Undercover mission turns life-threatening

Grey is in the field alongside rookie Miles, trying to keep Nolan and Celina calm while ensuring the situation is under control. Jones mentions the unique challenges of filming action scenes, especially those involving body cams.

“Being outside, in a travel control center, is fun because you get the whole effect of everything that’s going on,” Jones says. “We have to kind of manufacture everything that we’re seeing, things that we know we’re going to see. So that’s always fun because you get to play a little bit more.

The previous episode saw Grey make a tough decision to terminate Seth after his latest deceit. Jones reveals that Grey has “mixed feelings” about what happened. “He actually likes Seth but understands that he’s a wild card.

We can’t really depend on him or trust him. But I think deep down he has a soft spot for Seth. Grey’s a soft-hearted guy and wanted Seth to do well,” Jones admits.

“The Rookie” continues to captivate audiences with its gripping storylines and relatable character dynamics. Fans can catch the show on Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC or stream it on Hulu.
