Goose release new album Everything Must Go

Connecticut rock band Goose has released a new single called “Give It Time” from their upcoming album Everything Must Go, due out April 25 on No Coincidence Records. The song comes with a music video directed by Michael Nuchareno that shows behind-the-scenes footage of the band in the studio, on the road, playing basketball, riding roller coasters, and hanging out with a big shaggy dog. When the guitar solo kicks in, the video cuts to live footage from Goose concerts.

Everything Must Go is Goose’s fourth studio album and the first to feature new band member Trevor Weekz. Singer and guitarist Rick Mitarotonda says the songs on the album “come from different times and places in a way that captures part of the journey of the band. It moves through time for us, but not in a tidy, linear way.

Like the band, it’s okay for things to feel more like a landscape sometimes and less like a singular cohesive statement. It mixes different moods and ideas and characters. The through line is that each piece is part of that journey and that everyone is welcome to the party.”

Goose has a few shows in February but will tour extensively this summer to support the new album.

The tour starts May 30 in Bend, Oregon and ends June 29 in New Haven, Connecticut. They will also play festivals like Peach Fest and All Good Now. In other Goose news, the band has added more 2025 tour dates, including a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale Friday, January 31 at 10 AM local time.

Goose’s musical journey captured

Goose is riding high after selling out their Madison Square Garden concert, an impressive feat for an indie jam band.

In an interview, Mitarotonda and multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach said playing the iconic venue is exciting but just one part of their larger musical journey. “It is pretty wild,” Mitarotonda said. “From a numbers’ perspective, it’s significant, but the atmosphere around playing Madison Square Garden is a whole different animal.

It feels like the right time, and we’re really grateful for the opportunity.”

Everything Must Go spans 14 tracks and 90 minutes, filling up three vinyl LPs. Many of the songs like “Red Bird,” “California Magic,” “Silver Rising,” and “Feel It Now” are already live fan favorites. Recording sessions began in May 2023 and continued into 2024 as the band kept adding new material.

They also went through a lineup change, with founding drummer Ben Atkind leaving in December 2023 and Cotter Ellis joining. “The atmosphere of the band is super light currently,” Anspach noted. “We’re in a great place as a group.

The tension of 2023 and the introduction of Cotter into the recordings added a positive spin to the process.”

Mitarotonda and Anspach said they focused on capturing the live energy and arrangements of the songs while refining them in the studio with producer D. James Goodwin. The sprawling but cohesive album showcases Goose’s growth and points to a bright future as they continue chasing inspiration.
