Jason Isbell has released a new song called “Foxes in the Snow.” It is the title track from his upcoming solo acoustic album. The album will be released on March 7 through Isbell’s own record label, Southeastern Records. “Foxes in the Snow” is Isbell’s first solo acoustic album since his 2007 debut, “Sirens In the Ditch.”
Isbell recorded the entire album over just five days last October at Electric Lady Studios in New York City.
He used a 1940 Martin 0-17 acoustic guitar on all the songs. “Foxes in the Snow” is a simple, bluesy love song. Some fans speculate it may be about Isbell’s daughter, but this has not been confirmed.
In the second verse, Isbell sings: “I love my love, her golden hair.

I like to picture her alone when I’m not there.
And I like her friends, the ones I know. And they leave drops of blood like foxes in the snow.”
This is the second song Isbell has released from the upcoming album, following “Bury Me” in January. Isbell recently finished a short solo tour in Europe.
Tomorrow, he will kick off a U.S. tour in support of “Foxes in the Snow” in Chicago. The tour will wrap up on March 29 in Atlanta. After that, Isbell will rejoin his band, the 400 Unit, for an extensive tour from April through July.
Isbell and the 400 Unit released their most recent album together in 2023.
