Rihanna teases Smurfs movie trailer release

Paramount Pictures has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming animated Smurfs movie. The full trailer is set to be revealed tomorrow, and the teaser promises a nostalgic trip back to the beloved world created by Belgian comic artist Peyo. In the teaser, audiences are transported to the heart of Smurf Village.

The scene opens with a blank television amidst twittering animals and singing birds. As the screen comes to life, Smurfette appears, smiling and blowing a kiss as the words “Trailer Tomorrow” display above her head, setting the stage for the full reveal.

Teaser hints at Smurfs nostalgia

The teaser, although brief, hints at the film’s unique animation style. Observers have noted that the Smurf Village appears hand-crafted, reminiscent of clay or plasticine, suggesting a possible mixed-media format for the movie. Chris Miller, known for “Puss in Boots” and “Shrek the Third,” directs the film, with a screenplay by Pam Brady, famed for “Team America: World Police” and “Lady Dynamite.” The cast features an impressive lineup of voices, including Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, and many more, with Kurt Russell and John Goodman also joining the ensemble.

The Smurfs, a group of small blue humanoid creatures living in a whimsical mushroom village, were originally brought to life in Belgian comics before becoming a staple of 1980s animation. Led by Papa Smurf, they are known for their adventurous spirit and constant battles against the dark wizard Gargamel and his clever cat, Azrael. The new Smurfs movie, set to premiere in theaters on July 18, 2025, aims to capture the hearts of a new generation while delighting long-time fans.
