Chris Adler has spoken out about his departure from Lamb of God in 2019. He said it was a shock to him when he was fired from the band. “It was as big of a shock to me,” Adler said.
“I wasn’t given much of a choice. It took a while to dig out of that.”
Adler explained that he was going through a difficult time in his personal life when he was let go from Lamb of God. His mother had passed away, and he was in the middle of a messy divorce.
He also revealed that he had been diagnosed with musician’s dystonia, a neurological condition that affects muscle control. Adler said he took the medical information to the band, but they were not willing to work around it. “I took the medical work to the band,” Adler said.
“Nobody wanted to do that.
Chris Adler’s difficult departure
There wasn’t anything I could do about it.”
Adler said that being in Lamb of God was a big part of his identity, and it was difficult for him to lose that.
“In many ways, that band was my identity,” he said. “It’s everything that I worked for.”
When asked about his relationship with his brother Willie, who is the guitarist in Lamb of God, Adler said they are estranged. “I guess the best way to put it is that I was sideswiped with the whole thing,” he said.
“I wish him all the best; I’m wishing them all the best, and I think about him all the time, but I would say we are estranged. Since that email where he was not even willing to talk to me about it, we haven’t spoken.”
Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding his departure from Lamb of God, Adler said he is happy with where he is now. “At this point, I’ve got to work through resentments and regrets,” he said.
“I’m happy where I’m at. I hope he’s happy where he is. Everything is cool with me.”
