Kendrick Lamar takes swipe at Drake

Kendrick Lamar took a swipe at Drake during his Super Bowl halftime show performance. Lamar performed his song “Not Like Us,” which includes the line “Certified Loverboy, Certified p***ophile… trying to strike a chord and it’s probably a Minor.”

Drake has issued a statement through his lawyers criticizing Lamar and Universal Music Group (UMG).

The statement accuses UMG of defamation and artificially inflating streaming numbers.

“UMG is masquerading as a champion of artistic freedom by calling its actions merely ‘entertainment,’ but there is nothing entertaining about pedophilia or child abuse in the real world,” the statement read. “We are confident that the evidence we will ultimately present at trial will expose UMG’s gross prioritization of its own corporate profits and executive bonuses over its exclusively signed artists’ well-being and the truth.”

The feud between Drake and Lamar, former close friends and collaborators, escalated last year when Lamar dissed Drake and J.

Cole in a verse on Future’s song “Like That.” The conflict has involved accusations and diss tracks from both sides. Despite the controversy, Lamar’s Super Bowl performance of “Not Like Us” was praised for its boldness.

Lamar’s halftime swipe at Drake

One viewer commented, “Kendrick Lamar performing ‘Not Like Us’ and calling Drake a p*do in front of 100M viewers live at the Super Bowl is going down in history.”

Lamar’s performance also featured a surprise appearance by Serena Williams, rumored to have dated Drake. Fox News reported that Williams’ presence added another layer of intrigue. UMG, which represents both Drake and Lamar, denied Drake’s allegations.

“Not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist—let alone Drake—is illogical,” UMG stated. The Super Bowl 2025 halftime show had other notable moments as well:

– Former President Donald Trump attended, becoming the first sitting president at a Super Bowl. Crowd reactions were mixed.

– Taylor Swift faced boos when shown on camera, as she supported boyfriend Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. – A new “Lilo & Stitch” trailer was among several previewed movies that excited fans. The fallout from Lamar and Drake’s ongoing feud seems far from over after the impactful halftime show.
